Counselor of the Year
The Counselor of the Year award was created by NEACAC to honor outstanding high school and higher education counselors from each of the six New England states. According to the Association's guidelines, the recipients should demonstrate honesty, thoroughness, patience, sensitivity, leadership and a sense of humor. The 2008 recipients are:

- Joseph Flory, Rutland High School, Rutland, VT
- Steven Bastow, Mount Saint Charles Academy, Woonsocket, RI
- Kathy Pelletier, U-32, Montpelier, VT
- Nick Figueroa, Community College of Rhode Island, Lincoln, RI
- Joseph Walsh, Suffolk University, Boston, MA
