President's Message
Greetings! On behalf of all the members of the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC), welcome to our website. If this is your first visit, I encourage you to take the time to take a closer look and learn more about NEACAC and the range of services and support we provide our members in their work with students and their families in the college transition process. This singular focus has created a level of expertise that has been sought after by other associations, legislators and government agencies, school districts, colleges and universities, families, and, above all — students. If this is not your first visit, welcome back, and I encourage you to get more involved in NEACAC. NEACAC is an active and diverse organization. With more than 3500 members from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont, NEACAC is one of the largest of the 23 affiliates of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC). Annually we provide our members a range of programs and services as the result of the work of 15 standing committees consisting of volunteers from all six New England states. This includes signature professional development programs for both current and future members, advocacy for our profession and those we serve, fall and spring college fair programs, communications designed to inform and support the needs of our members, and leadership in the ethical responsibility of our members in the college transition process. In these uncertain times the role of NEACAC is more poignant than ever. As President I recognize I am a steward of this vibrant organization for the 2009-2010 year. I am pleased to let you know that we enter this year financially sound and well-positioned to build upon our past work. And, while we will offer increased and improved services to our members and increased participation by our members in the work of NEACAC, a priority is to revise, approve, and implement new Articles of Organization and By-Laws. As this process unfolds our members will be asked for their feedback on the proposed changes. Please take the time to respond to these requests. The work of the Articles of Organization and By-Laws committee will be made richer with your participation. I want to personally THANK everyone involved in the work of NEACAC for the time and talent you have chosen to share. For our members who are not yet involved with the work of our association I encourage you to get involved. You will find that this will greatly contribute to your own professional development. For those involved in our profession who are not yet members, I strongly encourage you to become a member of NEACAC. Your work with students and families in the college transition process will benefit. In closing I want to wish you a wonderful and productive year. If you ever have a question or feedback about NEACAC or how we can improve our services for our members, please don’t hesitate to be in contact with me. Sincerely, David L. Hautanen, Jr. President |
