NEACAC - New England Association for College Admission Counseling
Opening doors to higher education across New England.
Summer Institute

The 36th Annual Summer Institute for 2011 is currently in the planning stages.  Please stay tuned for details.

This Institute is designed for secondary and college counselors with two or fewer years of experience and focuses on bringing a deeper understanding of the interaction between secondary school counselors and admission officers as well as presenting expert insight into current issues in college counseling, admission and financial aid.

The program also hopes to provide participants the opportunity to connect and interact with veteran faculty members from high schools and colleges from across New England.  Some program sessions to look forward to include sessions on financial aid literacy, the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), effective communication in the admission/counseling process, recruitment/travel, ethical issues in admission and a mock admissions committee exercise.  It is also a wonderful program for attendees to meet colleagues from other schools and build a network of professional contact and sometimes friends.
