Welcome Mission Statement Establishing and maintaining high professional standards in admissions, financial aid, and school counseling at secondary schools, colleges, and universities. President's Message June 2007 Welcome to the New England Association for College Admission Counseling (NEACAC) website. NEACAC is one of the largest of the twenty-three state, regional, and overseas affiliates associated with the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), providing a number of forums for secondary school and college admission counselors to work together and develop “best practices” to serve our students as they make their transition from secondary to postsecondary education. I hope you will take a moment or two to closely examine the pages of this site and to discover the opportunities that NEACAC provides. If your institution is not a NEACAC member, please consider joining our organization. The more active and robust we are as an organization in New England, the more our organization will be heard nationally on important college access issues. There are also plenty of ways to become involved with our organization and to make a real difference. We have one full-time Executive Administrator, but this organization exists through the efforts of active, engaged, and interested volunteers. This work is primarily done through committees, and these committees are listed on the website. Please contact committee chairs to learn more about how you can get involved and make a difference. Our specific efforts provide professional development opportunities; lend advocacy to important issues, both regionally and nationally; provide access to colleges and universities through our NEACAC college fairs; provide best practices in college admission through the work of our Admission Practices Committee; and recognize outstanding efforts of students and counselors throughout our six-state region. Membership in our national organization, NACAC, in addition to membership in NEACAC, presents even more opportunities for you, your students, and your institution. Please contact me at djohns@mail.fairfield.edu, if you have questions or if I can ever be of assistance. I do hope to meet you soon, during my travels around New England. All the best, Debra E.
