MEFA will again be offering its annual Financial Aid Training for College Admissions Counselors on Thursday, August 4, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, MA. This free training has been a popular event with colleges and universities across New England for new admissions counselors to learn critical information about financial aid and for seasoned veterans to brush up on financial aid basics before the busy fall travel season.

An admissions counselor with an understanding of the financial aid process is better positioned to properly advise families who are at the early stages of considering enrollment at your college or university. MEFA's one-day training will provide participants with the following:

• An overview of different types of financial aid, how students apply, and the college's awarding process
• Important federal updates on changes to the financial aid landscape
• Guidance for conversations with families about college cost and student debt
• New tools and resources available to families and counselors for use throughout the college enrollment process

Sessions will be interactive and allow for considerable questions and discussion.
